UAV Systems Integration Engineer
UAV Design and DevelopmentAbout Skymark Aerospace
Skymark Aerospace develops uncrewed aircraft systems, with projects spanning aircraft platforms, propulsion integration, and onboard sensing technologies.
Our engineering work brings mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines together to develop and test practical UAV systems.
About the Role
We are seeking a UAV Systems Integration Engineer to bring aircraft hardware, onboard software, communications, and ground systems together into a working platform.
You will translate project requirements into clear interfaces and integration plans, then work with engineers, technicians, pilots, and external specialists to assemble and verify the complete system.
The role combines systems engineering with hands-on integration and troubleshooting. You will identify dependencies between disciplines, resolve compatibility issues, and assess how design changes affect aircraft performance, reliability, and readiness for testing.
Key Responsibilities
- 01 Develop and maintain system requirements, architecture diagrams, and links between requirements, subsystem designs, and verification evidence.
- 02 Define and document mechanical, electrical, software, and communications interfaces with the engineers responsible for each subsystem.
- 03 Assess component compatibility and coordinate system budgets for mass, power, data throughput, and other project constraints.
- 04 Plan integration activities, identify dependencies and acceptance criteria, and coordinate the sequence of subsystem and aircraft testing.
- 05 Integrate avionics, propulsion interfaces, onboard computing, payloads, telemetry, and ground-control equipment with the relevant specialists.
- 06 Configure and use integration benches and simulation tools; investigate faults spanning hardware, software, and communications.
- 07 Work with test engineers and pilots to verify system requirements, review results, and resolve issues before further testing.
- 08 Maintain records of hardware revisions, firmware versions, software releases, and parameter settings; assess the effects of configuration changes.
- 09 Contribute to technical risk reviews and test readiness assessments, documenting interface risks, unresolved issues, and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- 01 Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 02 Demonstrated experience integrating complex hardware and software systems through assembly, configuration, troubleshooting, and testing.
- 03 Working understanding of embedded systems, sensors, power systems, and communications, including their interactions and integration constraints.
- 04 Experience translating requirements into interface definitions, integration plans, and measurable verification criteria.
- 05 Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, component specifications, and software interface documentation.
- 06 Practical experience using test equipment, system logs, or telemetry to isolate faults and verify corrective actions.
- 07 Ability to maintain clear configuration and test records, explain technical tradeoffs, and coordinate work across engineering disciplines.
Preferred Experience
- 01 UAVs, robotics, aerospace systems, or other platforms combining embedded controls, sensors, and communications.
- 02 Autopilot and ground-control integration, including platforms such as ArduPilot or PX4, and software or hardware in the loop simulation.
- 03 Requirements management tools, model-based systems engineering, or structured configuration and change control.
- 04 Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for test automation, data analysis, and integration diagnostics.
- 05 Integration of electric propulsion, battery or fuel-cell power systems, or onboard sensing and computing payloads.
- 06 Professional engineering registration or progress toward registration.
What You Will Contribute
You will help the team move from individual subsystems to aircraft configurations that can be tested against defined requirements.
The position offers involvement across the full platform, with a direct role in resolving integration issues and turning test findings into coordinated engineering improvements.
